Boots is the grandfather of modern day cut rifling. He taught many of todays cut rifled barrel makers including Jack Krieger, Mike Rock, and Mark Chanlyn. In addition to rifle barrels, he has made ordnance barrels and done classified work for the US government.
Boots developed and trademarked 5R rifling that has become so popular today. It is a modification of the 4 groove Russian stlye rifling with some changes to its geometry. He works by himself and makes barrels one at a time in his home shop in Bristol, WI. He has 2 reamers, 3 twin spindle hydraulic riflers, 4 gun drills, and a Pratt and Whitney sine bar rifler.
Boots uses high speed steel for his cutter hooks and re-hones his hook near the end of the cutting process on every barrel
****It is your responsibility to understand the smaller bore dimensions and finishes associated with these barrels. Bore dimensions are available on the manufacturers website. NO BARRELS MAY BE RETURNED IF THEY HAVE BEEN MACHINED OR ALTERED****
