This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

What we collect and why

While you visit our site, we track:

• Products you have viewed, so we can show you items you looked at recently.
• Location, IP address and browser type, which we use for things like estimating taxes and shipping.
• Shipping address, which we ask for so we can estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order.

We also use cookies to keep track of your cart while you browse.

When you purchase from us, we ask for your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, payment details, and optional account information such as a username and password. We use this information to:

• Send you information about your account and order
• Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
• Process payments and prevent fraud
• Set up your account for our store
• Comply with legal obligations, such as calculating taxes
• Improve our store offerings
• Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them

If your order includes an item that must ship to a licensed dealer (FFL), we also need that dealer's details before we can ship.

If you create an account, we store your name, address, email and phone number and use them to fill in the checkout on future orders.

If you had an account on our previous store, your name, email address and saved addresses were carried over to this site. Passwords were not carried over, which is why returning customers reset their password the first time they log in.

Payments

We accept credit card payments through Authorize.Net, a Visa company. When you pay by card, your payment details are sent securely to Authorize.Net along with the information needed to process or support the payment, such as the order total and billing information. We do not store your full card number or security code on our website.

If you choose to save a card for future orders, the card is stored by Authorize.Net. Our site keeps only a reference to it, plus the card type, last four digits and expiration date so you can recognize it at checkout. You can remove a saved card at any time from the Payment methods page in your account.

If you choose Check/ACH at checkout, no payment details are collected on the website. Payment is arranged with you directly after the order is placed.

Back-in-stock waitlist

When you join the waitlist for an out-of-stock product, we store your email address against that product. We use it only to tell you when that product is available again.

You can take yourself off a waitlist from the product page or from the Waitlist page in your account.

Contact and work order forms

When you send us a message through the contact form, we collect the details you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number and your message. If you send parts in for work, the inbound work form you include gives us your contact details and the details of the job.

Contact form messages are delivered to us by email and may also be stored on the website. We use this information to answer your question and to do the work you asked for. We do not use it for marketing.

Reviews and comments

When you leave a product review or comment on the site, we collect the data shown in the form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After your review or comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside it.

Reviews and comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Cookies

We use cookies to make the store work and to understand how it is used. We use them for:

• Your cart. Cookies keep track of what is in your cart while you browse. They hold a cart identifier, not your personal details, and the cart session lasts about two days.
• Logging in. If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check that your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, or two weeks if you select "Remember Me". If you log out, the login cookies are removed.
• Reviews and comments. If you leave a review or comment, you may opt in to saving your name and email address in cookies so you do not have to fill them in again. These cookies last for one year.
• Security. Our hosting provider's firewall may set a short-lived cookie to tell real visitors from automated traffic.
• Analytics. Google Analytics sets cookies to measure how the site is used. See Analytics.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The cart, checkout and account pages will not work properly without them.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos or maps. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you had visited the other website. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site. It uses cookies to collect information such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, your approximate location, and your device and browser type. We look at this information in aggregate to improve the site and do not use it to identify you personally.

Who has access and who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal information.

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. Administrators and shop managers can see:

• Order information, such as what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent
• Customer information, such as your name, email address, phone number, and billing and shipping information

Our team uses this information to fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.

We share information with third parties only where it helps us run the store and get your order to you:

• Authorize.Net processes card payments and receives your payment and billing details.
• Shipping carriers (UPS and USPS) receive your name, delivery address and phone number so they can deliver your order.
• Licensed dealers (FFLs). When an order has to ship to a licensed dealer, that dealer receives your name and the order details needed to complete the transfer.
• Our website host stores the site and its data and provides the firewall and backups.
• Our website developer and support provider can access the site to maintain it and fix problems.
• Google receives site usage data through Google Analytics, as described under Analytics.
• Store reporting, monitoring and email delivery services process order and customer data on our behalf so we can run reports, keep the site healthy and send order emails.

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

How long we keep your data

We generally keep information about you for as long as we need it for the purposes we collected it for, and for as long as we are legally required to keep it.

• Orders. We keep order information for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address, and billing and shipping addresses.
• Accounts. If you have an account, we keep the information in your profile until you ask us to delete it. You can see and edit that information at any time from your account, except your username.
• Waitlist. We keep your email address on a product's waitlist until we have notified you or you remove yourself.
• Contact and work order forms. We keep contact form messages for 12 months, and work order details for as long as they relate to work we did for you.
• Reviews and comments. We keep these and their metadata indefinitely, so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them for moderation.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, have placed an order, or have left a review or comment, you can ask us for an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also ask us to correct it or erase it. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

To make a request, contact us. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act on it.

Where your data is stored and how we protect it

Our store is operated in the United States and ships to United States addresses only. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.

The site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), sits behind a firewall, and is backed up regularly. Access to order and customer information is limited to the team members and service providers who need it. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top.
