Industry leading.
Cut right here.
We flute on CNC machinery with flood coolant, in a wide range of patterns. Most are highly flexible — we can change lead-in lengths, helix rates, and vary cutting depth from breech to muzzle.

Straight flutes
The classic. Clean lines, predictable weight reduction, and the pattern most people picture when they think of a fluted barrel.

6 Straight Flutes
$120For barrels larger than the Remington Varmint contour we recommend stepping up to 8.

8 Straight Flutes
$150The right choice for most heavier contours.
10 & 12 Straight
CALL FOR PRICINGFor larger diameters — Heavy Varmint or 1.250″ straight.
Spiral flutes
More weight reduction than straight — the flute is wider and wraps the barrel for a longer cut. Right or left hand, with any realistic helix you want, and straight or spiral lead-in. Our standard spiral is a 35° twist rate.

6–7 Spiral Flutes
$150Our standard spiral. Right or left, any realistic helix.

8–10 Spiral Flutes
$165Sporter or heavy barrels. Cutter diameter changes with flute count and circumference.

12 Spiral Flutes
$180Generally for heavy barrels, cut with a narrower cutter width.

Micro Spiral Flutes
$150Typically cut as nine flutes.

Gain Twist Spiral
$150LH 1000 to 100 degrees; our default is 1200 to 100. Tight section goes on the shank end unless you ask for it at the muzzle.
Specialty patterns
Where the barrel stops looking like everyone else's.

Diamond Fluting
$180Very aggressive, with high weight reduction. Changing the helix shortens the diamonds into squares.

Spiral Hex Flutes
$180Requires at least a .700″ diameter at 26″ to qualify.

Hexagonal Flutes
$150Call for the contours that qualify.

Octagonal Flutes
$180Call for the contours that qualify.

Brux Interrupted
$150A straight copy of the Brux pattern, by popular demand. Weight reduction is minimal. 8 to 12 flutes depending on circumference.

Hybrid Brux Interrupted
$165The same pattern in hybrid form. 8 to 12 flutes based on barrel circumference.
Bolt fluting
Remington 700 and Tikka bolts.

Diamond Flute
$80Before you send a barrel
These requirements exist because of problems we have run into. Read them before shipping — it saves us both a phone call.
Fluting requirements
- Barrel blanks must be 27″ overall length minimum That is a fixturing limit. The actual flute length can be shorter — call if you need more information.
- Maximum flute length is 24″ We can start at 6″ and flute out to 30″. On a longer barrel we can start further down if needed.
- Factory barrels are fluted at your own risk
- Chambered barrels shorter than 27″ overall are at your own risk
- Barrels already crowned should be re-crowned afterward Best to leave muzzle work until after fluting.
Timed patterns need a reference mark. If you are sending a chambered barrel for Straight, Brux or Diamond fluting, mark Top Dead Center (TDC) 6″ in front of the shank.
How to order
Two ways in, depending on whether the barrel is ours or yours.
Fluting a barrel you buy from us
Add the barrel to your order
Pick the blank you want from the shop as normal.
Note the pattern in the order comments
Tell us which pattern you want — and include your finished barrel length. We stop the flutes 2″ short of finished length unless you direct otherwise.
We add the fluting cost the next business day
The charge is added to your order and the clock starts once payment is received.
Sending us a barrel to flute
Check it against the requirements above
Length, crown and factory-barrel risk all matter before it ships.
Mark top dead center if the pattern is timed
Straight, Brux and Diamond need TDC marked 6″ in front of the shank.
Fill out the inbound work form and ship it with the barrel
Download it below, print it, and put it in the box. It tells us whose barrel it is, what pattern you want, and how to reach you.
Call or contact the shop to arrange it
We will confirm pattern, pricing and where to send it.
